Evaluation on the 3 Internet VB Tools

      After much analysis, I had decided to use only one of the three tools recommended. The one chosen is the Crescent Internet Toolpak 4.0 (CIFTP and CIHTTP). However, I would also make use of some of the functions and interface that this tool lacks of from the other two Internet VB Tools.

         The reason on using this toolpak is that it gives Visual Basic developers a quick and easy way to add Internet functionality to their VB applications, without low-level coding.

     CIFTP

1. Explorer FTP (an advance stage of FTP),
2. Class FTP (the normal FTP found in all computers but using a drag and drop function),

Simple functions like :

3. Sending files from local drive to remote host,
4. Retrieving files from remote host to local drive,and
5. Listing files either in the local drive or remote host.

• It has similar features as the present WS_FTP used by windows except that it's much simpler.

• It uses a drag and drop technique to transfer files from the local system to the remote system or vice-versa.

• The control has been modified to be compatible with the servers to receive more than one command per packet.

• There is a FTP status to inform the application about the status of the high level methods.

     CIHTTP

1. Explorer HTTP (similar features to Explorer FTP)
2. Websearch ,
3. Webserver.

• Visual Basic 32-bit version will not crash as it can hold up to pages more than 32K of text.

• It can parse tags easily as it is no longer case-sensitive.

• Can easily view the webpages just by clicking the view buttons.
