Weekly Summary of Task / Assignment

This week task / assignment was to analyze on another two addition Internet Tool for Visual Basic and to develop the mini project known as the Web URL Validator, which is to be completed by Friday.

The additional two types of tools introduced was the Crescent QuickPak VB/J++ 1.0 and the Microsoft Internet Transfer Control 5.0. Here again, I had to evaluate them with the same criteria. In the previous evaluation, I misunderstood the criteria of "easy to use" which was actually focusing on the aspect of the code itself. I had decided to select and use the Internet Transfer Control 5.0 as it is within the Visual Basic software and also easy to use. However, from books that I read, it was said that the previous Crescent Toolkit that I chosen was better. But in terms of coding, it's too difficult for a beginner like me to handle.

From Wednesday till Friday, I had been facing problems due to the lack of knowledge and understanding of Visual Basic codes when I began writing my mini project. These problems seem to be repeating itself and doesn't end as in solving one and having another. However, this had left me with the only choice which was to analyze the problems on a whole and then solving it at one go. Well, doing a test and trial is another way to really understand.

Programming must be an on-going process. Once you let go of the momentum, the knowledge obtained might be lost or misplaced somewhere in the mind. I can say that this is definitely happening to me and I realised that this is a lost to me. The mini project that started since last Wednesday was only half completed and I do hope that it will be completed by end of Wednesday as there is really very limited time left.
