Weekly Summary of Task / Assignment |
A week of research and analysis, on the three different Internet Visual Basic tools with components such as FTP, HTTP and others had finally passed. The knowledge obtained this week was fascinating as I never knew that there were such applications wrote out from Visual Basic that could actually be quite similar to those found in our Windows 95/98. With that, it actually made me very interested to find out more about them and I had gone through all three websites - Crescent Division of Progress Software, Distinct Corporation : Intranet and Interent Development Tools and devSoft Inc. These sites mainly develop products relating to programming languages (all three includes Visual Basic products), to be sold as well as some demos to be downloaded for interested parties to test or give it a try. After my evaluation during the first four days of the week, I had found out that each one of the Internet Tools has their own advantages and disadvantages which makes it very difficult to decide which one to choose. However, with the two main criteria given to me by my supervisor, Mr Tralvex Yeap, which are - 1. The program must be easy to use (user-friendly) and 2. the program must work (without any errors or stoppage halfway). With this, my fields are being narrowed down to only one possible answer, which was to use the Crescent Internet Toolpak 4.0. The components found in this Toolpak varies and there are so many types you can choose to use and learn from. With much enthusiasm, I had even printed one of the source code from the program to take a look at how it actually works. When I looked at these codes, I felt that they were simply too difficult for me to understand and could not locate where each code is being connected to. This had definitely left me with a terrible headache. Other task that I had found interest in this week was the session or seminar and talk on "Neural Networks" that Indra and I attended on Monday. This topic struck me deep into my mind and I think that this is a really exciting and challenging topic to look into. If given the chance next time in the future, I would probably like to give a hand or help in our ways to promote this topic which is related to Artifcial Intelligence. |
